History and Overview Mike Addleman began his construction contracting business in Washington State in 1978 with projects ranging from building repair to commercial construction. As the business evolved, it focused mainly on concrete tilt-up cold storage warehouses and controlled atmosphere buildings serving the agriculture and food industry. In 1982 Bethlehem expanded its operations to include a prestressed double tee manufacturing plant in Cashmere, Washington. In 1985 the company opened operations in California’s San Joaquin Valley constructing cold storage and controlled atmosphere facilities. These projects included offices, employee areas, food-processing buildings, and sorting and packing facilities. At its Washington headquarters, Bethlehem constructed a new design center facility and updated the design department to utilize state-of-the-art Auto-Cad drafting procedures in 1988. In 1990 Bethlehem started a new division, calling it Bethlehem Sand & Gravel, in Rock Island, Washington. This plant included gravel pit operations, rock crushing and redi-mix concrete for use in its production components as well as for sale to the general public. This plant was known as having the second hardest rock tested next to the Stilacom Standard and one of the cleanest gravel pit operations in the state. In 1995 Bethlehem added a precast concrete hollow core bed to its manufacturing plant that included new batching facilities. Bethlehem sold the Sand and Gravel plant in 1999 in order to focus on its core business, the manufacture of prestressed, precast concrete products throughout the states of Washington and Oregon but continues to benefit from the long-term supply agreement for aggregate from that pit operation. Bethlehem has concentrated on industrial freezers, food processing, and storage facilities in its general contracting division. In the late 1990s, Bethlehem added to its area of expertise by including an Assisted Living Complex. Bethlehem has also expanded its precast operations to include parking garages, prison cells for correctional facilities, architectural components, stadiums, and special project types including a research lab, and special use facilities. Bethlehem Construction, Inc. can provide our client's with services as General Contractor, Construction Manager or Supplier with high quality precast concrete products for any project.
